This week on Expanded Perspectives Elite the guys start the show off talking about how a group in Chicago has\u00a0been testing these drones that are carrying heart defibrillators swooping in to help bystanders revive people stricken by cardiac arrest.\u00a0<\/span>Researchers tested the idea and found drones arrived at the scene of 18 cardiac arrests within about 5 minutes of launch. That was almost 17 minutes faster on average than ambulances \u2014 a big deal for a condition where minutes mean life or death. Then,\u00a0populations of dugongs\u2014a relative of the manatee\u2014have surged throughout the southern region of the coral reef, according to newly released aerial surveys, taken in November.\u00a0What’s more, the rotund marine mammals seem to be experiencing a baby boom. Of the 5,500 animals counted, 10 percent were calves, says the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority report.<\/p>\n

Then,\u00a0the New Zealand Antarctic Heritage Trust has recovered a 118-year-old watercolor painting from famed polar explorer, Dr. Edward Wilson. The painting was almost perfectly preserved, but hidden among dust, mold, and penguin shit. Then, a person describes a strange creature they witnessed while driving home on the west end of Lake Ontario back in August of 2014. The creature closely resembles the famous Mothman of Point Pleasant.\u00a0After the break Cam brings up some more unusual hunter disappearances.
