The Spear of Destiny

On this episode of Expanded Perspectives Elite the guys start off the show talking about how using an unprecedented technique of matching stars to the locations of temples on Earth, a 15-year-old Canadian student says he’s discovered a forgotten Mayan city in Mexico. Images from space suggest he may actually be onto something. William Gadoury, a teen from Montreal, developed an interest in archaeology after the publication of the Maya calendar announcing the end of the world in 2012. After spending hours poring over diagrams of constellations and maps of known Maya cities, he noticed that the two appeared to be linked; the brightest stars of the constellations overlaid perfectly with the locations of the largest Maya cities. Then, sand sprinkled over a solid metal plate, and then ran a violin bow along the edge to make it vibrate. As if by magic, the grains of sand rearranged themselves into patterns corresponding to various frequencies. Then, the guys bring up a scary Upright Canine Sighting from Florida and The Phantom Menace may have spawned one of Star Wars’ most detested characters, but the film’s on-screen trip to Otoh Gunga gave us a look at a piece of tech pined after by fans: the A99 aquata breather. The mini mouthpiece allowed Obi-wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn to travel to Gungan city, breathing underwater like a pair of fish. Now, an Indigogo campaign has raised nearly $1 million for the development of “Triton,” a similar set of “electronic gills” that would obliterate the need for bulky SCUBA gear. It sounds cool, but there’s a problem – and it’s a big one: they’re bunk. After the break Cam brings up the “Spear of Destiny”. The Holy Lance, also known as the Holy Spear, the Spear of Destiny, or the Lance of Longinus, is the name given to the lance that pierced the side of Jesus as he hung on the cross, according to the Gospel of John.
