The Big Grey Man of Ben Macdhui

On this episode of Expanded Perspectives Elite the guys start the show off talking about how was the FBI searching for lost Civil War Gold in Pennsylvania? Legend has it that in 1863, just before the outbreak of the Battle of Gettysburg, the Union Army dispatched a wagon train filled with gold that would be used to pay Union soldiers. The wagon train departed from Wheeling, West Virginia, and made it St. Mary’s, Pennsylvania. At some point after that, however, the shipment of gold disappeared.

Then, a guy and his girlfriend were fishing at stone quarry back in 1988 when they had a terrifying encounter with some unknown beast. As it was getting dark they were sitting on the edge of the water contemplating packing up when all of a sudden we heard this very loud roar…and I mean loud. It made us both jump up instantly. It roared (howled) again. I could see the outline of a creature with a large head and large eyes. I grabbed my flashlight and shined it at the creature. It had very large greenish-orangish oval eyes.

After the break Cam brings up the Big Grey Man of Ben Macdhui! The highland mountain ranges in Scotland are wild and magnificent places that attract many international visitors, but their slopes have a darker side that has terrified many people throughout the years. It is claimed that the mountains are haunted. With a height of 1309 metres (4296 feet), Ben MacDhui is the highest peak in the Cairngorms and the second highest peak in Scotland. Many mountaineers are certain that this region of the Cairngorms harbour a malign humanoid entity known locally as ‘Fear Liath Mor’ (meaning big grey man) that is grey in colour, big, and fearsome in appearance. The legends tell of these beings stalking anyone who trespassed into their territory. All of this and more on this weeks installment of Expanded Perspectives Elite!
