The Great New England Vampire Panic
On this episode of Expanded Perspectives Elite the guys start the show off talking about how a Jay, Oklahoma resident Natalia said back in 2015 she was at her kitchen when she noticed the big animal looking through the window. “I went to get a glass of water and it was there,” she said. “It was looking in my window.” The woman goes on to say that the creature made eye contact with her and then it emitted a loud yell. It then reportedly ran off but she kept hearing it screaming in the distance. The eyewitness described it as an 8 feet tall “hairy thing”. Then, if you take NASA at its word, no human beings have ever had sex in space. So far, during manned missions in Earth’s orbit, sex has been treated as something best avoided rather than an issue of import. But if we plan on making trips to Mars any time in the foreseeable future, or seek to colonise other planets, it will be crucial to know how sex works (or doesn’t) beyond our atmosphere. Indeed, based on the little we’ve gathered from trial runs with other animals, space sex and reproduction could prove to be tricky.
Then, Lon Strickler over at Phantoms and Monsters recently posted a very bizarre story of a sighting of a strange Moth Man like figure seen by an individual in Oz park, Chicago. The witness claims that while walking through the park they heard what sounded like wings flapping. Then, the saw a tall dark figure more than 7′ tall with large wings folded behind it’s back. Is something bad about to happen in Chicago? Then, Kyle brings up the truly terrifying reality we are all living in right now. Apparently AI has already become self aware and many of the advances in software are being written by the AI in very complex algorithms that we cannot decipher ourselves. This advanced software is known as Deep Learning.
After the break Kyle brings up the great New England Vampire panic. The New England vampire panic was the reaction to an outbreak of tuberculosis in the 19th century throughout Rhode Island, eastern Connecticut, Vermont, and other parts of New England. Consumption (tuberculosis) was thought to be caused by the deceased consuming the life of their surviving relatives. Bodies were exhumed and internal organs ritually burned to stop the “vampire” from attacking the local population and to prevent the spread of the disease. Notable cases provoked national attention and comment, such as those of Mercy Brown in Rhode Island and Frederick Ransom in Vermont.
